Real World Ready gives students a taste of what it means to be independent, capable, and prepared. Our motto is In Omnia Paratus — Ready for Anything. Over the course of the year, students learn a broad range of practical life skills, from the essentials of etiquette and conversation to jumpstarting a car, changing a tire, cooking basics, first aid, money management, and much more. Some lessons go home with students so parents can reinforce them in real-world settings.

Students learn the fundamentals of journalism — advanced writing, interviewing, recognizing a story, and the art and science of photojournalism — while doing the real work of publishing a community newsletter each semester. Simultaneously, the class is responsible for the theme, layout, design, and much of the writing and photography for the PathFinders Compass yearbook. This class is run like a newsroom: fast-paced, hands-on, and built around real deadlines.

This course covers the entire lifecycle of a product: from idea, through digital drafting and 3D modeling, to a finished physical object. Semester One focuses on engineering — students master FDM printer mechanics, material science, precision measurement, and CAD design in TinkerCAD. Semester Two shifts to art — students learn organic digital sculpting in Blender, use generative AI as a concept tool, and finish with post-processing techniques like sanding and painting. Students are required to have a 3D printer at home. See the full syllabus for detailed equipment and materials guidance before purchasing.
